Chair taken by Tony Schlosser, Apple Estates in place of Malcolm Lewis.
All new members introduced themselves, and spoke a little about their businesses. Tony gave thanks, and commented on how welcome C&D Solicitors were as a Spanish company. C & D Solicitors told the meeting how they had come to hear of the ABC through Spanish Insight and had experimented recently with advertising within English language publications. This prompted a discussion on advertising – looking at which way is best, what has been effective advertising, who to use, etc. Bob Higgs suggested all members look at who they advertise with and the group could discuss further with any new ideas.
New venues – suggestions of new venues to hold meetings was opened up to the group. Proposals were Genesis Club of Nerja by Angie who has already spoken to them, and told the ABC would be welcome. Andrew Robertson offered the venue of Codfather, and Paul Matthews offered the Tropicana Bar.
Committee meetings were discussed, and new members were told that all are welcome to attend or join the committee if they wished and to be a part of decision making.
It was announced that an informal meeting is to take place at the Pavo Real, Torrox-Competa road on Friday, 12th September. All committee members will be attending in order to introduce ABC to businesses in Competa and surrounding areas.
Mike Jenkinson of AutoCool, commented that it was a positive move and suggested a table be put on one side during meetings for cards, information, etc. This has been proposed before and was tried on a few occasions, it was agreed the idea would be re-introduced.
Paul Matthews of Nerjamar, suggested using registration forms. Again, this idea has been taken up and registration forms are available at most meetings or by email. It was pointed out that the Club needs an administration secretary in order to organise paperwork for meetings, take minutes at both Committee meetings and members meetings and prepare them for distribution. The Position of Administration Secretary has been put forward again.
Tony Schlosser, acting Chairman, suggested that any member wishing to put their name forward for Committee positions should do so at the next meeting.
The next Committee Meeting will take place at La Bodega Bar, Torrox Costa, Friday, 11th July at 2.00 p.m. All welcome.
A.O.B.: The next ABC Social Event was announced – A Beach Party to be held on Sunday, 13th July. Open and free to all. Families welcome. Suggested was an open afternoon with no set time of arrival or finish on the beach in front of El Ancla, Torrox Costa, barbecues would be provided or members could bring their own, no food or drink would be provided by the ABC but all members are welcome to bring their own food and drinks and use the facilities provided. Bob Higgs suggested that if any member had ideas for social events on the day, to put them forward.
